Everyday is a new exerience.
Exploring film/ India/ my everyday surroundings/ and all of the subjective associations that lie therein.
From pleasant moments, to thrilling, and emotionally phasing experiences.
A calming non-chalance. Hypnotized by the magic of the world.
The magic of non-events. Simplicity. Life.
Once my spirit has attained a level of fascination with what it sees, staring immobile.
Taking in a deep breath of oxygen, as I have ceased to breathe.
Penetrating the scene, achieving maximum reception through heavy meditation,
and out-of-body experiences.
eyes and ears. clear sentiments. HERE.
Being ultimately satisfied with the sights and sounds of my surroundings.
To take on a narcisistic view. An artist's priviledge.
While diving into the realm of energies that people exude, I feed off of them.
I open my senses, and break away from the grip of society, and enjoy my self-inflicted freedom. Seeing through new lense.
A lense that can pause the instant it beholds, and take control of it.
Stepping back and spectating. On the outside looking in on; situation, culture, location, etc. Stealing a chunk of life to manipulate, and appropriate at will.
Taking charge of time, and routine. A reversal.
Capturing an instant, as if to defy it, expose it.
An action that is both for, and against life.
An action that speaks to this track that we did not choose.
An optimistic look beyond this trick, this game of money.

But what does this mean; "intimate/documentary"?

These little pieces of life, these non-events.
The return to simplicity.
Nowadays, everything is event-based. Be it through publicity, habits, fashion.
We are in constant competition with our neighbors to come up with something spectacular, something "better".
We have neglected the essence of what surrounds us.
Unable to asses the hidden energies of a situation.
Take in the non-events that grace us on a daily basis.
I try to see beneath this superficial surface.
I do not film the taj mahal, but rather a humble object.
Not a maharaja, but rather, a man picking weeds.
Exploring the depths of "normal" existance. Sensibility.
It is these long, drawn out shots that thrill me.
These self-plotted routes that are necessary.
I research through instinctive direction, knowing that it will come in time.
Just let it unfold, and be captivated.
This idea underlines the "everyday".
It demostrates the small things.
It demonstrates india.
From work, to habitat.
From fading colours, to vibrant colours.
From the young to old.
Playing, and movement.
Bodies in spaces.
It speaks of light, and lightness.
The multitude of man, and the singularity of each.
The walls, and the horizon.
The resounding desperation that lies within all.
The body suffers, and this colour emerges.
It tells us that eveything can be simple and insignificant.
It is all just a matter of perception.
We can change, and choose this perception.
But in the end, there is something much stronger that guides it.

  1. Lou - this reads good. I would like you to keep putting stuff up here and relating it to the books you are reading, the work you are doing, the images you are making, etc. Take care.
